Our Serena and Lily coffee table is the focal point of our living room. We waited years before investing in not one but two of these tables—one for the living room and another for the playroom—and after years of daily use I’m answering common questions and sharing our experience.

Serena & Lily Coffee Tables
When my four kids were toddlers we kept the living room clear of furniture for safe play. The space felt unfinished without a coffee table, but I needed that open area for them. Once that phase passed, I was excited to invest in a high-quality piece to pull the room together. Serena & Lily matched our aesthetic perfectly.
This purchase was made several years ago and while our family and style have evolved, my taste remains: refined, comfortable, and lived-in. I have no regrets—these coffee tables are classic, durable, and will adapt as your style changes.
Serena and Lily Coffee Table Review and Our Thoughts

Our living room is the heart of family life, so practicality was a top priority. We envisioned a large white table placed near the kitchen where most activity happens. It needed to be beautiful but functional for four energetic kids.
The Serena & Lily Boonville Coffee Table
We debated between the Boonville and the Truro. Both have a high-end coastal vibe: the Truro offers a polished, patterned top, while the Boonville is a matte white with a more rustic feel. We chose the Boonville for its larger size and rugged look that suits everyday family life.
Feet on the table, toy cars, juice boxes, snacks, and evening glasses of wine—this table handles it all. Although it has an upscale look, it’s not fragile: the surface wipes clean easily and stands up to spills. The Boonville is part of Serena & Lily’s outdoor collection, so it’s designed to endure the elements and the chaos of family life.

The Boonville’s top is wide—nearly four feet on its longest side—so it accommodates several stacks of books and decorative items. This spring we added a large grasscloth tray that adds texture and makes styling easier. On weekends those accessories often get cleared away to make room for toys and snacks.
Though substantial and thick in appearance, the table is hollow and manageable to move when needed. It’s cast from a real tree root with a live edge, which gives it a natural, unique look that’s always interesting.

How To Care For The Boonville Coffee Table
I clean the table with a damp rag for foot marks and use gentle soap and water for spills—no harsh cleaners. Since the table is designed for outdoor use, it tolerates liquid better than many indoor-only pieces.
To remove dirt from the small divots and grooves, I gently use the vacuum hose or a soft attachment. The Boonville’s top is intentionally imperfect, with natural dimples and tree-trunk-like grooves. If you prefer a smooth surface, consider the Truro or other Serena & Lily models with polished tops.

The Boonville also works well as a side table—pulled between two chairs it becomes a unique conversation piece.

Our Second Serena & Lily Coffee Table: The Atelier
We also chose the Atelier coffee table for the playroom to anchor the sectional. With all the color and texture in that room, I wanted a calming, minimal table to rest the eye. The Atelier’s modern, sleek design fits many aesthetics and will grow with our family.

The Atelier doesn’t get the same heavy daily traffic as the living room table, but it still holds up well. I keep its styling minimal—usually kids’ books and a tray underneath—so it remains practical for a play space.

My kids don’t color or draw on the Atelier, and I wouldn’t recommend allowing that, but everyday use like books, toys, and snacks hasn’t harmed the finish. It remains a clean, pristine white after a year of use and is an excellent, understated anchor for a busy room.
There’s also a square Atelier option if that fits your layout better.
I believe in investing in high-quality, practical furniture that adapts as your life changes. Both of these tables have proven to be stylish, durable, and family-friendly.
