Ingredients:

– 0.5 oz beeswax (pastilles are easier to use, or a beeswax brick)
– 3 tbsp unrefined coconut oil
– 2 tsp sweet almond oil
– 1 tbsp jojoba oil
– 10 drops rosemary essential oil
– 10 drops white fir essential oil
– 8 drops lavender essential oil

Supplies Needed:

– Double boiler (or a heatproof container inside a saucepan)
– Measuring cups and spoons
– Spoon
– Knife if using beeswax in brick form
– Small containers for the finished balm (this batch fills about three 1 oz jars or roughly twelve 5 g jars)

Directions:

Tip: Have your containers ready and lids removed before you begin. The mixture solidifies quickly once removed from heat, so lining up jars in advance makes the process smooth.

1. Fill the bottom of the double boiler about two-thirds full with water and set over medium heat. Chop and measure the beeswax if using a brick and add it to the top of the double boiler. Stir occasionally as it melts. When the water boils, reduce heat to a low simmer.

2. While the beeswax melts, measure the coconut, almond, and jojoba oils. If the coconut oil is solid and difficult to scoop, soften it briefly in the microwave (10–15 seconds) with any metal lids removed.

3. When the beeswax is fully melted and clear with no lumps, add the coconut oil and stir until fully incorporated. Then add the sweet almond oil and jojoba oil. Finally, remove from heat and stir in the essential oils.

4. Keep the water on the lowest heat while you pour the mixture into your containers. The balm will start to firm quickly, especially in cool conditions, so work efficiently. If it begins to harden before you finish, return the top container to the warm water to remelt.

5. Allow the balm to set for a few hours before replacing lids. Once fully cooled, add labels if desired.

How to use: Take a small amount and smooth into the mustache or beard daily or as needed to soften hair and promote a well-groomed appearance.
